DevLog #5: Midterm Progress

Last week I made a very rough prototype that includes basic player movement, train map using standard unity objects, and some small UI indicating time. The doors have timed open and close codes, but the train itself does not move, and the map is still unclear. I also added all necessary the scenes for start, main, finish, and game over.

This week I would like to work on adding some sound effects and making actual 3D objects to replace the train parts that have modular components: walls with/without doors, benches(?), connecting doors (depending on the number of compartments), floor out of the train, and stairs with end triggers. I would also like to refine some characters into the game that suits the general look of the train, and perhaps code more strategic character movements. Regardless, this week I would mainly like to focus on mapping and 3D modeling.

Overall I feel somewhat okay about the progress so far, though I have not perfectly imagined how the game itself would look like (with specific FUN end scenes that correlate to the objective). My player movement generally feels good but the other passenger movements and placements are slightly off. I’m still trying to figure out different types of passengers that have different functions and I would like to hash out various verbs that each passengers will be related to.
